Rohilkhand University Admission 2020: Over 90,000 seats remain vacant due to COVID 19 pandemic

The dismal figure is now worrying colleges. If statistics are to be believed then 548 colleges affiliated to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University have found no takers for B.Com, BA and BSc courses this year. According to university administration, 1, 47, 000 graduates were admitted to colleges last year.

Rohilkhand University Admission 2020: Around 98,000 seats in colleges affiliated to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University remained vacant this year due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The dismal figure is now worrying colleges. If statistics are to be believed then 548 colleges affiliated to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University have found no takers for B.Com, BA and BSc courses this year. According to university administration, 1, 47, 000 graduates were admitted to colleges last year.

Out of the 548 colleges affiliated to Rohilkhand University,  26 are government college, 29 are government aided and 493 are privates colleges.

“The admission rate in some private colleges is satisfactory, but majority of them are not getting admissions due to lack of infrastructure, good faculty and many placements seats remain vacant. We extended the admission deadline for the third time and students can still apply to get admission till September 30,” said university official.

He reiterated that there are various reasons for the low percentage of admission. The main reason is fear Cornavirus and other includes financial crisis due to COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the university administration, there are about two lakh 35 thousand graduate seats.

Dr. Amit Singh, Incharge Media Cell, Ruhelkhand University pointed out that the board results were released late this year due to COVID-19 pandemic. Students are now opting for professional courses instead of traditional.

While recession is not only limited to private colleges, reputed government colleges are facing the burn.

According to AICTE, the middle-rung engineering colleges had hardly any takers this year. There are 14 lakh engineering seats available across the country. Only 10 lakh students took admission. Core engineering streams had fewer takers in comparison to IT and computer science.
