Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) introduced the new generation Brezza locally by the end of June 2022. It has a lot riding on its shoulders considering that the old Vitara Brezza was a tremendous success and set a new benchmark since its debut in 2016. As expected, the new Brezza has made a good initial impression.
The reservations of the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza have gone past the 1.06 lakh mark in just over two months since its launch. It must be noted that the upcoming Grand Vitara midsize SUV competing against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and others has already recorded more than 50,000 bookings.
We do expect the combined sales volumes of the new Brezza and soon-launching Grand Vitara to make a strong impact in the SUV space in the coming months in India. Last month, the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza managed to beat Tata Nexon in sales as 15,193 units were sold against 15,085 units of the latter with a YoY positive growth of 18 per cent.
The new Maruti Brezza features a whole host of changes inside and out and it continues to sit on the Global C platform. The exterior gets a redesigned front grille with sharper headlamps and new LED Daytime Running Lights, updated fog lamps, wider air intake, new front and rear skid plates, newly designed alloy wheels, thicker body cladding, new LED tail lamps and so on.
The features list comprises a nine-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, an automatic climate control system, a 360-degree camera system, in-car connected tech, a heads-up display, cruise control, six airbags, new dashboard and centre console, flat-bottom steering wheel, updated instrument cluster and a lot more. It is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15C mild hybrid petrol engine.
It develops a maximum power output of 105 PS and 138 Nm of peak torque. The engine is connected to a five-speed manual transmission as standard while a six-speed torque converter automatic unit with paddle shifters is offered as an option.
