Kerala Driving Test 2024: MVD Introduces New Rules, H-Test

Kerala Motor Vehicles Department has eliminated the traditional H-test format and prohibited electric vehicles and automatic transmissions in the 2024 Driving Test, aiming to improve the driving standards of state-licensed drivers.

Kerala Driving Test 2024: Through new regulations, the Kerala Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) has eliminated the traditional H-test format. On Thursday, the Transport Commissioner issued a circular prohibiting the operation of electric vehicles and automatic transmissions. The initiative seeks to enhance the caliber of drivers who hold licenses in the state.

New Regulations Regarding Driver’s License Exams in Kerala

In Kerala, the MVD has enacted new regulations for obtaining a two-wheeler license in an effort to improve motorists’ abilities. Now, you must complete the driving examination on a motorcycle that has a manual gearbox and a displacement exceeding 95 cc. Attempting to pass the license exam in an automobile equipped with an automatic transmission will result in disqualification. As opposed to the previous practice of conducting tests on closed tracks, the road test will now be conducted on public highways with actual traffic. This will increase the difficulty of obtaining a two-wheeler license and guarantee that only qualified drivers obtain licenses.

The ground test for four-wheelers will consist of crucial maneuvers including angular parking, parallel parking, gradient testing, and zigzag testing. It is imperative that driving schools equip their vehicles used for these assessments with compulsory video recording equipment and location monitoring systems. The authorities have imposed daily limits on the number of individuals allowed to take the driving exam. Examiners must assess a maximum of 30 candidates daily, with 20 being first-time applicants. Severe consequences await vessel examiners who exceed these limits. The driving tests will also conduct a proportional number of novice license examinations.

Furthermore, it is imperative that driving school instructors possess the necessary technical credentials in the field of automotive mechanics or engineering. They must have completed courses offered by reputable technical institutions. The department will also enforce age restrictions for vehicles used by driving schools. Beginning on May 1st, 2024, we will progressively replace vehicles that have exceeded the 15-year mark.

The new regulations are expected to enforce driving examinations more strictly in Kerala, ensuring that only proficient drivers are granted licenses. Road safety advocates have praised the initiative, but there are concerns about the accessibility of compliant automobiles. Regulators will unveil significant changes in the coming months that will impact the state’s public road safety.
