Tata Nexon Records Highest Ever Monthly Sales In August 2022

Tata Nexon posted more than 15,000 units in the month of August 2022 and it is the highest monthly sales yet for the compact SUV

Tata Motors introduced the Nexon compact SUV in late 2017 and it received a substantial facelift in early 2020. The five-seater has been a tremendous success for the homegrown auto major over the last year or so and it has consistently been posting record monthly sales. In recent times, it has been the country’s best-selling SUV beating the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Venue.

In the month of August 2022, Tata recorded a total of 15,085 units with the Nexon and it contributed to almost one-third of the brand’s volumes. The company recorded a cumulative domestic tally of 47,166 units last month and it led to a YoY positive sales growth of 68 per cent. The combined volume of Nexon and Punch stood at over 27,000 units.

The Punch five-seater micro SUV also garnered its highest monthly tally in August 2022 as just over 12,000 units were posted. The total EV sales of Tata stood at 3,845 units and in comparison to the same period last year with a YoY sales increase of 276 per cent. The company continues to be the third largest selling carmaker in India behind Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.

Tata introduced the Nexon, Nexon EV, Safari and Harrier Jet Editions a few days ago and earlier this year, the Nexon EV Max was brought in with a larger battery and longer driving range. The ICE Nexon derives power from a 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged petrol engine developing a maximum power output of 120 PS and 170 Nm of peak torque.

The 1.5-litre four-cylinder Revotorq turbo diesel mill kicks out a maximum power output of 110 PS and 260 Nm of peak torque. Both powertrains are linked with a six-speed manual transmission as standard or a six-speed torque converter automatic unit as an option.

Currently, the Tata Nexon is priced between Rs. lakh and Rs. lakh (ex-showroom). It competes against Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Honda WR-V, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and the likes. It features a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, engine start/stop button, iRA connected tech, etc.
