Ajith is the son of Mohini Kumar, who is from Kolkata, and P. Subramaniam. He was born in Hyderabad. The actor has two brothers: Anoop Kumar, a stockbroker in New York, and Anil Kumar, a Seattle-based IIT Madras graduate. Ajith also had two twin sisters who both passed away at a tender age.
