During this period, she confronted numerous obstacles, including the 2020 election and a Supreme Court nomination, as well as the widespread coronavirus pandemic. She was charged with composing a daily report detailing the day’s accomplishments, which would be distributed to various departments.

Since her 13th year, Amber has competed in the Miss America Organization. She explains that she did not particularly enjoy “the competitive aspect. I never did it to compete in a beauty contest or to be on stage. On her first day at the White House, she wore a conservative attire and shaved her head so that she would appear “all business.” Amber told herself, “We are not going to be a pageant girl…we will not let people think we are a dimwitted blonde!” She added, “You can tell when someone is underestimating you based on your appearance…The moment I open my mouth, I can see on their faces that they are thinking, “Oh, this girl actually has a brain in her head. I adore that.”

Attending the unveiling of a significant tombstone at Arlington National Cemetery that previously contained a misspelling was one of her most memorable moments from this internship. Amber explains that the tombstone belonged to Sarah Ford Young, who was “the first woman to vote in any election in the United States.” She continues by stating that “the first female vote was actually in Utah, which most people are unaware of because Wyoming was the first state to grant women the right to vote.” She added that she was ecstatic to create commemorative flyers and pamphlets that would be distributed to Sarah’s descendants who attended the event, as well as the chance to hear women in high-level official roles speak.
