Amy Grant Biography: Amy Grant was born in Augusta, Georgia, on November 25, 1960. Her primary area of recognition as an American vocalist is within the Christian rock genre. As a young child, her family made the decision to move to Nashville, Tennessee. In 1976, she composed and performed her debut single, “Mountain Top,” in front of her school as her first public appearance. A recording contract was extended to her by World Records the subsequent year, subsequent to her church youth group leader performing the song in the presence of the label’s proprietor, Chris Christian. In 1978, her debut album was released.

She accomplished a notable feat by transitioning from contemporary Christian music to conventional pop music in the mid-1980s. “The Next Time I Fall,” a duet she performed with Peter Cetera, the main vocalist of the rock band Chicago, in 1986, peaked at number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. After a span of five years, she rekindled her interest in Christian music by producing the album “Heart in Motion,” which spent 32 consecutive weeks at the top of Billboard’s Christian album chart.

The Recording Industry Association of America (R.I.A.A.) honored Grant with the Song of the Century award in 2001 for her 1982 single ‘El Shaddai.’ The Gospel Music Association subsequently inducted Grant into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame two years later. Grant was bestowed with a star on the esteemed Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006. The subsequent year saw the publication of her semi-autobiography, “Mosaic: Pieces of My Life So Far.” Grant maintained a prolific discography, releasing new tracks and albums throughout the 2010s and late 2000s.
