Career
Like many performers, he started his career in theater and was chosen to appear in the Palace Theater’s production of “Have a Cigarette” in 1960. He struggled to find work for a few years after this role. But British actor Sir Laurence Olivier noticed the budding talent and took him under his wing as an understudy at the Royal National Theater. After working his way up and becoming pretty well-liked in the theater, Hopkins soon realized that his career was not moving in the right path and that he needed to change it.
His first role in this area was as an on-screen actor, appearing in the 1967 television series “A Flea in Her Ear” on B.B.C.
