Aparajita Mohanty was born in Sambalpur, Odisha, to well-educated parents Abdul Aziz Khan and Harapriya Ray on 15 May 1965. Whenever she heard music on the radio during her childhood, she began to dance. Perhaps it was an early sign that she should pursue an acting career. Her parents desired that she pursue higher education and work as a vocation. Later, when they observed her interest in film, they also encouraged her to pursue a vocation in the industry.
Career
Aparajita Mohanty began her acting career in 1980 with the film ‘Seeta Lubkush’. The following year, she appeared in the film ‘Ramayan’. Mohanty debuted in ‘Astaraga’ in 1982, and subsequently appeared in ‘Janani’ (1983), ‘Pooja Phula’ (1985), and numerous other successful films. From the 1980s to 2014, Mohanty delivered outstanding performances in South Indian films, for which she was lauded and commended by all.
In addition to acting, she had an interest in politics because she was inspired by her grandfather, who was also a prominent politician. Mohanty joined the BJP in 2018 and will run for MLA in the 2019 assembly election.

Abdul Subhan Ali Khan, the ancestor of Aparajita, was the first law minister of Odisha. She was raised in Sambalpur with her three sisters.
