Urie was born into a Mormon family. After his birth, the family relocated to Las Vegas in the state of Nevada. He then began academic and religious training at Palo Verde School in accordance with the beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In the same institution, he began to investigate music. He learned to perform the guitar, piano, cello, accordion, and a variety of other instruments, preparing him to become a multi-instrumentalist musician in the future. During his participation in these music classes, he encountered Brent Wilson, who invited him to join his band, Panic! at the Disco. The band was seeking a replacement guitarist, but after hearing Urie’s audition, they were impressed by his vocal abilities.

Since his parents did not support his decision to pursue a career in music rather than attending college, he was expelled from his home and had a difficult time joining the band. However, this did not impact his commitment to the band.

He began working at Tropical Smoothie Cafe to pay for a rehearsal space where he and his bandmates could reside and practise. Pete Wentz, the bassist of the famous band Fall Out Boy, discovered him in 2004 as a result of his endeavours to impress his parents, which led to his discovery by the band. Wentz suggested that the band join with Decaydance Records.

After one year, Panic! The title of At the Disco’s debut album was “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out.” It reached number 13 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum in several countries. This album includes the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping singles ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’ and ‘But It’s Better If You Do. Since then, they have released an additional five studio albums and two E.P.s that have garnered them worldwide recognition.

Urie has not restricted his abilities to the realm of music alone. He has also participated in “Lip Sync Battle” on television and appeared on Robert Paul Champagne’s “Home Here Now” and Taylor Swift’s “Miss Americana.”

Urie’s existence has been anything but private. This world-class celebrity is married to Sarah Orzechowski, whom he encountered at a band event and spoke to for the first time in 2009 after Paramore’s lead singer Hayley Williams introduced them. On April 27, 2013, they were wedded. The inspiration for the composition “Sarah Smiles” was his wife.

Urie stated in 2013 that he had previously experimented with men but was now happily married and regarded himself heterosexual. In 2018, years later, he declared himself pansexual.
