Chad Steven Henne was born in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, on July 2nd, 1985. He attended West Lawn Wilson High School, where he was the starting quarterback. In 2000, as a freshman, he shared quarterbacking duties with Ian Firestone, a junior, for the Bulldogs’ first game, but went on to start the remaining 10 games of the season.

Before losing to Cumberland Valley 21-7 in the semifinals of District 3 AAAA, they had won six consecutive games. The team struggled during Henne’s second season as a starter, but by the end of his junior year, he had received over 40 scholarship offers from various colleges. He chose Michigan from among the universities of Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, and Penn State.
