The 2nd of June, 1941, he was born in Bloomsbury, London. His father was a truck driver, while his mother worked in a factory. His ancestry was English and Scottish, and he was a Gemini. Watts was influenced by jazz music as a child and possessed numerous records. His family relocated to Kingsbury, where he attended Tyler Croft Secondary Modern School from 1952 to 1956. In 1955, when Watts expressed an interest in percussion, his parents purchased him a drum set. Until 1960, he attended Harrow Art School.

After leaving art school, Watts worked as a graphic designer. He was employed by an advertising agency, but he continued to play percussion on the side. Together with his childhood companion Dave Green, he joined a band. Watts joined Blues Incorporated in 1962 while continuing to work at Charles, Hobson, and Grey as a graphic designer. Midway through 1962, he encountered Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ian Stewart, and he joined the Rolling Stones officially in January 1963. Watts’s education in graphic design enabled him to contribute to the band’s comic strips. He devised their record sleeves and tour stages. Watts performed with the Rolling Stones for 58 years, toured internationally, and gave it his all. Jagger gave him the moniker “The Wembley Whammer.”

Watts was a performer who poured his personality into each performance, song, and album. He was an extraordinary percussionist who passed away on August 24, 2021. Watts was survived by his 1964-married wife Shirly Ann Shepherd, their daughter Seraphina, and granddaughter Charlotte. He lived a full existence and is daily missed.
