Christopher Velez Munoz Biography: A music enthusiast since his youth, Christopher Vélez Muñoz has maintained an interest in the field. Funding constraints prevented him from carrying out his intention to pursue music studies after school. After turning 18, Muñoz emigrated from Ecuador to the United States with the intention of securing a more promising future for his family. He performed a variety of odd tasks, including shoe-shining, in order to support his family and earn a living.

He maintained his passion for music through the self-titled YouTube channel, where he uploaded a variety of tribute songs and original compositions. His channel began to garner interest shortly thereafter, and his subscriber count grew progressively.

Then, a chance to try out for the Ricky Martin and Simon Cowell-hosted vocal reality series “La Banda” presented itself. Because the general public adored Muñoz’s tenor, he was promptly invited to participate in the competition. Muñoz encountered subsequent CNCO bandmates and fellow “La Banda” contestants, namely Erick Brian Colón, Joel Pimentel, Richard Camacho, and Zabdiel De Jesús, at this location as well. Although all five performed well in the eyes of the audience, Muñoz emerged victorious in the competition as the darling of the fans. CNCO, whose name was derived from the Spanish word ‘Cinco,’ which means five, was established on the day of the show’s conclusion, representing his almost immediate transition from this victory to another. They entered into a five-year contract with Sony Music Latin under Ricky Martin’s representation, and Wisin produced their debut album.

By 2016, Muñoz and CNCO had achieved a global triumph with the release of ‘Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos),’ an album that topped charts across all continents, owing to their formidable foundation and innate ability. Other successful albums released by the band included “CNCO” (2018), “Deja Vu” (2021), and “Que Quiénes Somos” (2019), among others. Since then, they have also received nominations for additional accolades, including the Latin Grammy accolades in 2017.

In addition to his duties as CNCO, Muñoz dedicates time to developing his solo music and composing songs, which he distributes on platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, and others. Streaming counts have been in the thousands for his hit singles ‘Viveme,’ ‘Say With Me,’ and ‘Contigo,’ among others.
