Colleen Hoover Career Success

Amanda Hoover began writing her first novel, Slammed, as a personal endeavour in November 2011, with no intention of publishing it. Inspired by the song lyrics of the Avett Brothers, she wove their words throughout the narrative.

Slammed was ultimately self-published in January 2012 so that her mother, who had recently purchased an Amazon Kindle, could read it. The book received a five-star review from blogger Maryse Black, which resulted in an increase in sales.

Both Slammed and Point of Retreat appeared on the New York Times Best Seller list. Later, Atria Books republished the novels. After the triumph of Slammed, Hoover quit her job as a social worker to become a full-time author.

In December 2012, Hoover self-published Hopeless, which became the first self-published novel to attain the number one spot on the New York Times Best Seller list.

She proceeded to write novels and novellas featuring characters from her earlier works. Gryphon Peterson’s Maybe Someday, which debuted in March 2014, was accompanied by a musical score composed by Gryphon Peterson.

Never Never, co-authored by Hoover and Tarryn Fisher in 2015, was initially released as three separate volumes before being published as a complete novel.

In 2016, Hoover authored a book. It Ends with Us is a profoundly personal and powerful account of domestic violence based on the author’s own experiences.
