David Bowie Biography:
Early Life
David Bowie was born in Brixton, London, as David Robert Jones. Margaret Mary was his mother, and Haywood Stenton Jones was his father. He had a reputation as a bright, narrow-minded young man. In addition to being a defiant fighter, teachers thought he was extremely artistic. Bowie sang and played recorder in the school choir. In 1962, at the age of 15, he started his first band, the Konrads. Bowie joined the King Bees after a brief period with the band. He took this action because he thought the other Konrad family members lacked ambition.
Career
Bowie rejoined the King Bees and departed the group once more a month later. He joined the Manish Boys this time, but Bowie was still not happy with this band. He moved on and joined the Lower Third, a fourth band. But Bowie was a hard guy to win over, and after a brief stay, he left the Lower Third. Bowie had started to transition into a solo performer at this time. Lindsay Kemp was his teacher for mime and avant-garde theater. It was not until he released “Space Oddity” in July 1969 that Bowie experienced widespread financial success. “Space Oddity” was a huge hit when it was released because it happened to coincide with the Apollo 11 spacecraft launch.
In November 1969, Bowie’s second album, “Bowie,” was released. Bowie also tied the knot with Angela Barnett this year. He developed his well-known Ziggy character in 1972 for his “Ziggy Stardust” stage production. Due to the show’s widespread recognition, he shot to the top of the British entertainment scene. In 1976, Bowie adopted a new character, “The Thin White Duke.” In addition to becoming a great actor and painter, he kept up his musical career. He met supermodel Iman ten years after his divorce, and the two were married in 1992. Married for a lifetime, they didn’t divorce in 2016.
