This exceptionally skilled athlete, author, and war veteran was born to Trunnis and Jackie Goggins in Buffalo, New York. Although he may not have had the smoothest beginning to his life, Goggins is an inspiration to countless people around the globe. He began his professional life in the military and later became a Navy Seal for the marines. After returning from battle, he began running in order to raise funds for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. He is both an ultramarathon runner and holder of a Guinness World Record.

David Goggins Birthday

David Goggins was born to Trunnis and Jackie Goggins on February 17, 1975. Goggins had a difficult upbringing. His father was harsh, and he was bullied at school as well. His learning difficulties went misdiagnosed and untreated for the majority of his academic career, and he barely graduated high school. After completing his education, he intended to join the military, but after only one week of training, he decided against it. A few years later, after seeing an advertisement for the Marine Corps, he decided he wanted to do more with his life, and in 1998, at the age of 24, he began applying for the training programme. To even be considered, he was instructed to lose more than 100 pounds. Goggins dropped weight and completed the programme with remarkable success!

Many of Goggins’ closest friends were killed in a helicopter accident in 2005, years after he had left the marines. Before he could be eligible for participation in the Badwater UltraMarathon and collect money for the Warrior Foundation, he was required to have completed at least one other ultra-marathon. In 2006, after finishing various marathons and ultramarathons, Goggins was invited to compete in the difficult Badwater competition. Goggins raised more than $2 million and placed fifth overall, which is virtually unheard of in this arduous race!

Goggins continued to work out rigorously, so boosting his strength. In 2013, he broke the world record for the most pull-ups performed in twenty-four hours by completing 4,030 in 17 hours! Goggins had endured enormous adversity in his life, and he resolved to memorialise how he conquered it all by putting pen to paper. In 2018, he published the memoir “Can’t Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds,” which detailed the obstacles he encountered throughout his life and how he developed the determination to overcome them. This athlete has accomplished so much throughout his life, and we cannot wait to see what he does next!
