Early Years

Dilip Joshi was born on May 26, 1968, in Gosa, Porbandar, to a typical Gujarati family. He was born into a Brahmin Hindu family to parents Raman and Deepa Joshi. Ritwik Joshi and Neeyati Joshi are Dilip and Jaymala’s two offspring. When he was 12 years old and still in school, he had the opportunity to perform in an acting production for the first time, and he was inspired to continue acting.

Dilip Joshi came from a middle-class family and attended a nearby elementary school. He then attended Wilson College of Commerce and KNM College of Commerce & Economics, where he earned a B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce) degree. Dilip Joshi was also involved in acting in college and represented his school in a number of competitions. As a result, he was unable to devote his entire attention to his studies, and when the results were released, he received a failing grade.

Career

Dilip Joshi began his career as an actor in 1989, when he portrayed Ramu in the film Maine Pyar Kiya. Later, he appeared in a number of Gujarati dramas, including Bapu Tame Kamaal Kari alongside Sumeet Raghavan and Amit Mistry, the trio best known for their television programme Shubh Mangal Savadhan. In the television series Yeh Duniya Hai Rangeen and Kya Baat Hai, Joshi portrayed a South Indian. In addition, he appeared in the films Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Hum Aapke Hain Koun!

Joshi and his co-star Disha Vakani celebrated the conclusion of 1000 episodes of TMKOC with a celebration.
During 2008, Joshi began a long run portraying the role of Jethalal Champaklal Gada in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He received numerous accolades for his performance in the programme, including five Telly awards and three ITA awards.

Notable among his other tele-serials in Hindi are Kabhi Yeh Kabhi Woh, Hum Sab Baarati, Hum Sab Ek Hain, Shubh Mangal Savadhan, Kya Baat Hai, Daal Mein Kala and Meri Biwi Wonderful. He appeared as Uncle Tappu in the children’s farce Agadam Bagdam Tigdam, as well as in the 2009 films Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge and What’s Your Raashee by Ashutosh Gowarikar.
