Her great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents on her father’s side were all actors. John, her father, is arguably his generation’s most successful actor. Her godmothers are Sophia Loren and Anna Strasberg, and her godfather is the renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

She began her career with a small part in the 1980 film “Altered States,” followed by the role of Gertie in 1982’s “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.” The film grossed the most money in the 1980s, making her one of the most famous child actors. She also received the Young Artist Award for best supporting actress.

Due to her sudden fame, Barrymore had a difficult childhood. At the age of 13, her excessive partying landed her in rehabilitation. Soon after, she published an autobiography titled “Little Girl Lost” in which she detailed her struggle with drug and alcohol abuse. She starred in several commercially successful films between 1990 and 2010, including “Charlie’s Angels,” “Batman Forever,” “Scream,” and “Fever Pitch,” to name a few.

In 1991, Barrymore was engaged to Leland III, but the engagement was broken off a few months later. From 1992 to 1993, she was engaged to Jamie Walters for a year. On March 20, 1994, Barrymore wed Los Angeles bar owner Jeremy Thomas; she filed for divorce less than two months later. She dated Eric Erlandson II in late 1994, then TV host and comedian Tom Green in 1999. They became engaged in July of 2000 and wed the following year. His divorce petition was filed in December 2001. In 2002, Barrymore dated The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti. The end of their relationship occurred in January 2007. Next, she began a relationship with Justin Long, which ended in July 2008. Beginning in 2011, Barrymore began dating art consultant Will Kopelman. They announced their engagement in January 2012 and were married in Montecito, California, on June 2, 2012. They have two daughters named Frankie and Olive. She officially filed for divorce on July 15, 2016, and it was finalised on August 3, 2016.

In addition to being a highly successful actress, she is also the founder of the production company “Flower Films,” which has produced several of her films. Her other business ventures include a line of cosmetics, including perfume and eyewear, a line of wines, and a clothing line, all under the brand name Flower. E. P. Dutton published a collection of her autobiographical essays entitled “Wildflower” in 2015. In addition, she is currently the host of her own talk show called “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
