He was regarded as America’s top high school basketball player. also won the Morgan Wootten High School Player of the Year Award, the Gatorade National Player of the Year Award, the McDonald’s National High School Player of the Year Award, and the Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award in the same year.

He had a contentious 2010; he was awarded damages for defamation against Royce Reed, the mother of his eldest child, Braylon. She was prohibited from mentioning his name in the media by a court order, but a Florida judge found that she had broken this rule.

He demanded damages in the neighborhood of $500 million as she disparaged him on Twitter and the television program “Basketball Wives.” The Cobb County, Georgia, police investigated all of Reed’s allegations that Howard had mistreated their son in October of 2014. Howard acknowledged that he had slapped his son to correct him, but he was not held accountable for any of the charges.

Owning a farm in North Georgia, Howard enjoys spending time outdoors with his animals, which include deer, hogs, cows, and turkeys. One of his interests is farming on his estate.
