He first worked in fashion in 1973 as a designer for the Italian company Genny. The same year, Versace met Antonio D’Amico, who would become his partner. As a designer who could spot ability, he found supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and many more, and put them in his fashion shows. Verce was the first person to connect the worlds of fashion and music. He became friends with famous people like Elton John, Tupac Shakur, and Madonna that lasted a long time. People like Diana, Princess of Wales, became his friends, and he would bring them to most of his shows.

In addition to making clothes for regular people, Versace was also very good at making costumes for plays and artists.

On July 15, 1997, Andrew Cunanan shot Versace in the head after he recovered from cancer. At exactly 9:21 a.m., the hospital staff said he was dead. His younger sister’s child Allegra received half of his estate, and his siblings continued the family name and its history.
