Guru Arjan Early years
In Goindval, Guru Arjan was born to Bibi Bhani and Jetha Sodhi. The husband of Bibi Bhani, Jetha Sodhi, subsequently became known as Guru Ram Das, and she was the daughter of Guru Amar Das. The Gurdwara Chaubara Sahib currently stands on the site of Guru Arjan’s birthplace. Mahadev and Prithi Chand were his two brothers. In 1581, Guru Arjan Dev took over as the Sikh Guru from his father, and he started his social and spiritual activities among the Sikh community. He is renowned for his efforts to gather and arrange the Sikh Gurus’ teachings into the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book.
During his reign, Guru Arjan Dev founded Tarn Taran Sahib and erected numerous significant Gurdwaras and Sikh temples.
