She is an Indian actress who primarily works in the Kannada film industry. She was born in Ammathi, Kodagu district, Karnataka, India, on May 1, 1990.
Harshika Poonacha was raised in a small Kodagu district village and concluded her education in the same district. She has been interested in performing since she was a child and participated in numerous cultural events and plays during her school years.
Harshika Poonacha migrated to Bangalore after completing her secondary education to pursue her college education. She graduated from Bangalore’s St. Anne’s Degree College for Women. During her college studies, she continued to pursue her acting passion and began to audition for film roles.
Harshika Poonacha made her acting debut in the Kannada film “PUC” in 2008. However, it was K. Madesh’s “B3” (2009), her second film, which brought her recognition and renown. Since then, she has appeared in numerous Kannada films and established herself as one of the industry’s prominent actresses.
During her 12th-grade summer vacation, she joined a television channel as a host. The director of the Kannada film PUC (2008) observed her and offered her a role in the film. After consulting with her parents, the 15-year-old actress consented to star in the film. After completing class 12, she worked as a TV anchor for a few South Indian television programmes, and after earning her BTech, she began working for the software company ‘Maxpro.’ She did not abandon acting and continued her vocation as an actress. In 2009, she debuted in the Kodava film ‘Ponnamma,’ Konkani film ‘Kazar,’ and Telugu film ‘Edukondalavada Venkataramana Andaru Bagundali.’ She has appeared in a number of Kannada films, such as ‘Thamassu’ (2010), ‘5 Idiots’ (2011), ‘Case No. 18/9’ (2013), ‘Bhale Jodi’ (2016), and ‘Udgharsha’ (2019).
She made her Malayalam film début in 2018 with “Charminar,” in which she portrayed Nanda. As of 2021, her Tamil debut film ‘Un Kadhal Irundhal’ and debut Bhojpuri film ‘Hum Hai Raahi Pyar Ke’ are in the making.
She was born in Ammathi, Kodagu district, Karnataka[3] and is her parent’s only child. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree. Bhuvan Ponnanna, Harshika’s cousin, is a model, actor, and Bigg Boss Kannada 4 contestant.
