J Cole Birthday

Cole was born at a military installation. Soon after he and his brother were born, his father, an African-American army veteran, and mother, a European-American postal service employee, divorced. Following his father’s abandonment, Cole’s mother relocated him and his brother to Fayetteville, North Carolina. Being multiethnic, he could identify with the race and family of his mother, but he preferred to identify as black. Then, at age 12, he became interested in rapping and began performing. In 2000, his mother gave him an ASR-X musical sampler, which was instrumental in launching his career. Cole learned how to tell stories and incorporate wordplay in rap by studying the work of Eminem, Tupac, Nas, and other influential rappers of his generation. It wasn’t long before he began uploading his songs to websites, gaining notoriety under the alias ‘Therapist.’ His career began to flourish after he began to appear on the albums of other stars. After the release of his second mixtape, “The Warm Up,” on June 15, 2009, Cole appeared on Jay-“The Z’s Blueprint 3” (2009) and Wale’s “Attention Deficit” (2009) albums (2009).

He worked with Talib Kweli, Hi-Tek, Reflection Eternal, and B.o.B. as well. These alliances helped him increase his popularity. In 2010, Beyond Race magazine named Cole one of the 50 Greatest Emerging Artists. During this time, he went on college tours to promote his music, and on April 30, 2010, he released the single ‘Who Dat’. In August of that year, he received the UMA Male Artist of the Year award and was signed to Jay-prestigious Z’s label, Roc Nation. On September 27, 2011, he released his debut album, “Cole World: The Sideline Story,” which debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard Charts. Cole demonstrated with the release of his second studio album, “Born Sinner,” that he was not in the music industry for the sake of fame. For this album, Cole was more concerned with social commentary and channelled the aggression and rawness of human nature. This was when Cole’s confessional delivery earned him the moniker ‘conscious rapper’ Cole maintained this persona and released his third album, “2014 Forest Hills Drive,” which went on to achieve double platinum certification. His fourth and fifth studio albums, “4 Your Eyez Only” and “KOD,” debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, broke streaming records, and addressed social issues such as drug abuse, parental abandonment, depression, and greed.

Cole announced via Twitter the compilation album “Revenge of The Dreamers III” by the American record label Dreamville. In 2021, he released his sixth studio album, titled “The Off-Season.” Cole has released six studio albums, one live album, two extended plays, three compilation plays, three mixtapes, and 56 singles. Cole, a man of extreme discretion, has revealed that he is married to Melissa Heholt and has two children with her.
