Jacquees Biography: On April 15, 1994, Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, also known as Jacquees, was born in Decatur, Georgia. At the age of nine, he taught himself to sing after encountering Michael Jackson and The Temptations on television. He participated in talent showcases throughout his high school years, winning trophies year after year. Broadnax rose to prominence following his collaboration with rapper T.I. on the single ‘Krazy.’ He then released a series of mixtapes before releasing his career-launching E.P. ’19’. A Billboard chart appearance inspired him to work harder, which led to a contract with Cash Money Records.
Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax was nine years old when the music and lifestyle of the Jackson 5 inspired him to pursue a career in music and performance. Even though “The Jacksons: An American Dream” and The Temptations’ music were out of his era, they had an impact on him. “The Five Heartbeats” similarly influenced his affection for music as “The Sound of Music.” These factors motivated him to begin working on his voice. Without the assistance of a voice coach, he became an expert in his profession after years of hard work. In addition to performing, he began composing music with his friends at age 12.
His family and acquaintances were encouraging when Broadnax would sing along to a movie. In the fifth grade at Atlanta, Georgia’s Canby Lane Elementary School, he participated in his first talent performance. He won the competition with his rendition of The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back.” Each year, the Mary Mcleod Bethune Middle School entered him in a talent performance competition. Once at Dekalb County Middle School and again in high school. His first self-released album, “19,” debuted at No. 3 on the iTunes Top R&B Albums Chart and No. 15 on the Billboard R&B Albums Chart in 2014. Later on, Broadnax collaborated with numerous artists, including Jagged Edge, Travis Porter, Lloyd, and Chris Brown. “4275” debuted in June 2018 and peaked at number 35 on the Billboard 200 and number three on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
It is difficult to determine how Broadnax differs from his idols. The artist states, “All I want is for my music to make people happy.” “You know how a particular song can evoke memories of a particular moment in your life? As a musician, I seek to inspire others in this manner.”
