When Bateman was a young actor, he enjoyed great success. At the age of eleven, he made his television debut in a cereal commercial. In 1980, he was cast in a recurrent role on “Little House on the Prairie,” a position that lasted until 1982. He played Derek Taylor in the 1982 film “Silver Spoons,” which ran until 1984. That year, he was cast in the lead in his own sitcom, “It’s Your Move,” on N.B.C. due to his increasing popularity. He was cast in a recurring role on “The Hogan Family” in 1985.
