In 2007 and 2008, he was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award for ‘Outstanding Performance By an Ensemble in a Comedy Series’ for his portrayal of the sardonic good guy Jim Halpert on the popular NBC television series “The Office” (2005). His mother, Mary Claire Krasinski, is a registered nurse, while his father, Ronald Krasinski, is an internist. His mother is of Irish descent, whereas his father is of Polish descent.

His first theatrical experience was in a satirical high school production that was written and directed by his classmate B.J. Novak. His Little League baseball teammate was Novak, who subsequently rose to the positions of co-star and writer on “The Office” (2005). After graduating from Newton South High School in 1997, Krasinski intended to concentrate in English; however, he postponed his first semester of college in order to teach English in Costa Rica. After graduating with honors in 2001 from Brown University’s playwriting program, he attended the Eugene O’Neill National Theater Institute in Waterford, Connecticut.

The summer of 2000 was his internship with “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” as a script intern. (1993). Since his feature film début in 2002, Krasinski has appeared in a handful of supporting roles, including “Duane Hopwood” (2005) and “Kinsey” (2004). Following his debut as “Corporal Harrigan” in “Jarhead” (2005), directed by Sam Mendes, he portrayed “Ben” in “The Holiday” (2006), a romantic comedy directed by Nancy Meyers. His voice is featured in “Shrek the Third” as “Lancelot” (2007). Krasinski appeared alongside Robin Williams, Mandy Moore, and in the 2007 romantic comedy “License to Wed.” Additionally, she shared the 2008 football screwball comedy “Leatherheads” with George Clooney and Renée Zellweger. In 2009, Krasinski debuted as a director with the comedy-drama “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men,” an adaptation of the eponymous collection of short stories by David Foster Wallace. Following that, he oversaw the critically acclaimed horror film “A Quiet Place” (2018), which had one of the most successful opening weekends of its genre, and the family drama “The Hollars” (2016).

In November 2008, Krasinski began a romantic relationship with the English actress Emily Blunt. Following their engagement in August 2009, the couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony held at George Clooney’s former residence in Como, Italy, on July 10, 2010. They reside in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood of New York City. Violet and Hazel Krasinski are the names of their two daughters.
