John Rocker Birthday

John Rocker is a well-known baseball figure, both for his excellent skills and controversial opinions. Rocker was born on October 17, 1974, in Statesboro, Georgia to parents Jake and Judy. Sadly, his father passed away in a car accident in 2007. He remains close to his mother. Rocker first started playing baseball in high school at the First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Georgia. Soon, he was drafted for the Atlanta Braves in 1993 as a relief pitcher while in college.

After playing in the minor league for five years, Rocker was promoted to the major league in 1998 and officially became a member of the Major Baseball League (M.B.L.) as part of the Atlanta Braves team. Rocker played for the Atlanta Braves for three years until 2001 when the commissioner emeritus of baseball, Bud Selig, suspended him from playing the first 28 games of the season after Rocker made several rude, derogatory remarks about New Yorkers. In the same year, he was traded to the Cleveland Indians and then to the Texas Rangers the next season.

A year later, in 2002, he made his acting debut when he starred in the horror-comedy, “The Greenskeeper.” In 2004, he took a year-long break from playing professionally to recover from surgery on his left shoulder after he sustained an injury. Rocker played his last professional baseball game as the relief pitcher for the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball team the Long Island Ducks in 2005. In 2007, he released his autobiography titled “Scars and Strikes.” He continued his writing career and has been writing for the conservative political site WorldNetDaily since 2012. In 2014, he starred in the 29th season of the reality T.V. show “Survivor,” with his then-girlfriend Julia Mcgee.
