The Clean City, Green City -2002 distinction was bestowed upon Indore by the Government of India as a result of his tireless efforts for environmental improvements and green living.
Kailash Vijayvargiya
Kailash Vijayvargiya Biography: In 2014, Vijavargiya was put in command of the BJP’s election campaign in Haryana, and as a result, the BJP won a majority in the assembly election. In June 2015, he was designated national general secretary by party president Amit Shah and the new BJP leader in West Bengal as a result of this victory.
Kailash Vijayvargiya was born on 13 May 1956 and is the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Before being elevated to the party’s central leadership, he was the mayor of Indore, a six-time legislator who has never lost an assembly election, and a state government cabinet minister for over 12 years in the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In 1975, Vijayvargiya joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). In 1983, he joined the Indore Municipal Corporation and in 1985, he joined the standing committee. He has served as the state secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the BJP, and Indore, as well as the coordinator of the BJP’s legal cell at the state level. In 1985, he was appointed state coordinator of Vidyarthi Parishad; in 1992, he was appointed state vice-president of the BJYM; and in 1993, he was appointed national general secretary of the BJYM and chief minister of Gujarat. In 1990, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, and 2013 Vijayvargiya was elected to the Vidhan Sabha.
He was in command of the BJP’s Haryana state assembly election campaign in 2014, when the party won its first seat, bringing its total to 47. In 2015, he was appointed National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and leader of the party in West Bengal. He was included on the list of India’s 100 most influential people for the year 2021. He was considered a game-changer for the BJP in West Bengal, where the party won 18 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 election.
In 2000, Vijayvargiya became the first mayor of Indore Municipal Corporation to be elected directly. In 2003, he was elected president of the South Asia Mayors’ Council and led the Indian Voluntary Organisation delegation at the World Earth Summit in Durban.
On December 8, 2008, Vijayvargiya was sworn in as a cabinet minister for the government of Madhya Pradesh and assigned the portfolios of Public Works, Parliamentary Affairs, Urban Administration, and Development.
Vijavargiya was born to Shankardayal Vijavargiya on 13 May 1956 in Indore. He obtained a Bachelor of Science and then a Juris Doctorate. With his wife Asha Vijayvargiya, Vijavargiya has two sons, including the politician Akash Vijayvargiya.
