Kelly Cutrone Biography: Kelly Cutrone was born in Camillus, New York, on November 13, 1965. She relocated to New York City in 1986, subsequent to her graduation from Syracuse University. She worked for publicist Susan Blond for one year prior to joining “Spin” magazine as the director of communications for Bob Guccione. Cutrone and Jason Weinberg, a former aide of Susan Blond, founded Cutrone & Weinberg slightly more than a year later.
Cutrone divested her portion of Cutrone & Weinberg to her co-founder due to her growing fatigue with the public relations industry. She practiced tarot and card reading for the next year and a half. In 1996, People’s Revolution was initiated by Cutrone. On September 11, 2002, People’s Revolution surpassed the previous benchmark for the most shows showcased in a single day throughout New York Fashion Week. Premiering on Bravo in February 2010, the eight-episode reality television series “Kell on Earth” chronicled Cutrone and the People’s Revolution. Cutrone served as executive producer. The series chronicled Cutrone’s struggles as a fashion week producer in New York and London while juggling her personal and professional obligations as a single mother. Cutrone became a contributor to “Dr. Phil” in November 2010.
HarperOne, a HarperCollins company, released Cutrone’s autobiography in February 2010 under the title “If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You.” Meredith Bryan assisted in the composition of the book that achieved New York Times bestseller status. The second novel by Cutrone, “Normal Gets You Nowhere,” was published on May 3, 2011. In May of 2002, Ava Cutrone, Cutrone’s daughter, was born.
