At the age of three, Wiig moved with her family to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she attended Nitrauer Elementary School and Manheim Township Middle School until eighth grade. At the age of 13, she and her family relocated back to Rochester, where she attended Allendale Columbia School for her ninth and tenth grades before graduating from Brighton High School. She attended Roanoke College but returned soon to Rochester. She attended community college and completed a three-month programme in outdoor living. She had no intention of performing at that time. She attended the University of Arizona, where she majored in painting. When she needed to fulfil a school requirement by taking an acting class there, the instructor encouraged her to continue acting. She was recruited to sketch images of people’s post-surgery bodies at a cosmetic surgery clinic, but she opted to relocate to Los Angeles and pursue an acting career on the first day of work.

Wiig portrayed Dr. Pat on “The Joe Schmo Show,” a satirical reality television programme. From 2011 to 2014, she provided the voice for Lola Bunny on “The Looney Tunes.” Wiig received four nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for her performances on “Saturday Night Live.” The 2011 release of “Bridesmaids” marked a turning point in her career. The movie earned $167 million in North America and $280 million worldwide. She voiced characters in “Despicable Me” and “How to Train Your Dragon.” In 2016, she co-starred as the antagonist in “Zoolander 2” alongside Ben Stiller and Will Ferrell.
