LaMelo Ball Birthday

Laméole France Ball was born in Chino Hills, California, United States, on August 22, 2001. Given that both of Ball’s parents had professional basketball experience, his father, LaVar Ball, began training him in basketball as soon as he could walk. At the age of four, he began playing basketball with his older siblings, Lonzo and LiAngelo, against opponents significantly older than himself. When he was five years old, he played flag football with his siblings, but he preferred basketball. Ball began playing basketball with his siblings on Big Ballers V.TX, a 17-and-under Amateur Athletic Union team founded and coached by his parents in 2013, when he was in the seventh grade. The team, which was not sponsored by a major shoe company, elected to compete in regional rather than premier AAU circuits.

Ball competed for Chino Hills High School in California as a freshman. His colleague, Onyeka Okongwu, also received the MaxPreps ‘National Freshman of the Year’ award. In a game against Los Osos High School, Ball tallied 92 points, the second-most in a single game in California high school history. Along with his sibling LiAngelo, he signed with agent Harrison Gaines on December 7 to play professionally overseas. The majority of recruiting services rated him as a five-star prospect and one of his class’s best point guards. In November 2018, upon his return to secondary school, he expressed interest in playing college basketball. Due to his professional experience, Ball was deemed ineligible to participate in the 2019 McDonald’s All-American Game. He considered options such as prep school, the NBA G League, and professional divisions in Australia and China.

The Charlotte Hornets selected Ball third overall in the 2020 NBA Draught. He has the youngest professional basketball player contract in the history of the United States. Ball recorded a season-high 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists on November 25. On January 9, he recorded a triple-double, making him the youngest player in NBA history. On January 30 against the Milwaukee Bucks, Ball recorded a career-high 27 points, five rebounds, nine assists, and four steals in a 126-114 triumph. Ball was named Rookie of the Month for February after averaging 20,1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.7 assists in 13 games. As Kevin Durant’s injury replacement, he was selected for his first NBA All-Star Game.
