Bird was chosen by the Boston Celtics as he graduated, and there he would alter the course of play. From the year of his draft to the Eastern Conference, where he finished first, he improved the Celtics’ record by 32 games right away.

Kevin McHale was selected as a forward by the Celtics in the 1980–1981 season, and Robert Parish, the center, was selected second. Together, they would become a Hall of Fame trio that is regarded as one of the best frontcourts in NBA history for many years to come. Bird won his first, but not his last, championship in this same season. The life and career of Bird are widely recognized and esteemed. He was a player who had no flaws.
