Lenny Kravitz Birthday

Lenny Albert Kravitz has long dominated the soul music industry. He is also a songwriter, record artist, and multi-instrumentalist, in addition to being a vocalist and an actor. Kravitz was born in New York City on May 26, 1964, and is of African-American, Bahamian, and Jewish descent. His parents were Roxie Roker and Green Beret Sy Kravitz. At age five, Kravitz made the decision to become a musician. His parents adored R&B, jazz, classical, opera, gospel, and blues, so he began playing drums and guitar and grew up listening to this music.

After moving to Los Angeles with his parents at age 10, Kravitz joined a choir. He performed a classical repertoire and sang with the Metropolitan Opera during his three-year tenure. In junior high school, he was first exposed to rock music. According to Kravitz, he was “drawn to the cool style, the girls, and the rock-and-roll lifestyle.” During his senior year of high school, he taught himself to play the piano. When he attempted to release his debut album, Kravitz encountered significant opposition. He chose to record it under his own identity, Romeo Blue, with the assistance of recording engineer Henry Hirsch. In 1989, with the assistance of his friend Stephen Smith, Kravitz signed a record contract with Virgin Records. His debut album “Let Love Rule” was released the same year. Many of its tracks featured a fusion of rock and funk with a 1960s flavour.

The album received divided reviews, and Kravitz’s wife, Lisa Bonet, directed the music video for ‘Let Love Rule’. The singer went on to co-write and produce the song ‘Justify My Love’ for Madonna. It achieved number one status. The second studio album by Kravitz, “Mama Said” (1991), reached the Top 40 of the year’s best-selling albums. On the Billboard top 100 songs chart, ‘It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over’ was ranked second. He composed a tune for the rock band Aerosmith and appeared on Mick Jagger’s “Wandering Spirit” solo album.

Kravitz played guitar on the album title tune “Buddha of Suburbia” by David Bowie. On his fifth studio album, “5” (1998), Kravitz utilised digital technology for the first time. The album grew in popularity due to the success of the single ‘Fly Away,’ which also earned the performer his first Grammy Award in 1999 for ‘Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.’ Over the next three years, Kravitz won three more awards in the same category. In 2018, he released his most recent album, titled “Raise Vibration.”

The 2009 film “Precious” marked Kravitz’s acting debut. In the 2012 and 2013 installments of the “Hunger Games” franchise, he portrayed Chinna. The singer also appreciates photography and has previously shared his portfolio. In 2003, he founded Kravitz Design, a commercial, residential, and product design firm. Six years of marriage to Lisa Bonet resulted in the birth of actress Zo Kravitz. Four years were spent in a relationship between the singer and the vocalist and model Vanessa Paradis. He briefly dated model Adriana Lima and was engaged to actress Nicole Kidman for one year.
