Six years old at the time, he moved in with his mother and grandmother after his parents’ divorce. After three years, he moved in with his father, a gospel singer, in Austell, Georgia. He resorted to the internet, and Twitter in particular, as a means of evasion from incessant difficulties. He graduated from Lithia Springs High School in 2017.
Hill enrolled at the University of West Georgia but withdrew to pursue a career in music. At this time, he supported himself through small employment. In July of 2018, he published his debut mixtape titled “Nasarati.” He began writing and recording songs in 2018 and released his debut mixtape in July of 2018. The compilation was not successful until he released the song ‘Old Town Road’ in December 2018. The song went viral on TikTok in early 2019 and debuted at number 83 on the Billboard Hot 100.
