Lloyd Polite Biography: Lloyd Polite, who was born on January 3, 1986, began his musical career with his brother as a member of the adolescent boy band N-Toon. Even though the group separated in 2001, Irv Gotti, a famous DJ and record producer, later discovered Polite’s potential. 2003 marked Polite’s debut as a solo artist. Throughout the years, he has collaborated with a number of well-known performers, including Lil Wayne and Ashanti. Multiple times, his albums and singles have topped Billboard’s charts. We can’t wait to tell you about this remarkable artist’s journey!

Lloyd, also known as Lloyd Harlin Polite Jr., is an American R&B singer, rapper, and songwriter. On January 3, 1986, he was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Robin Lewis Polite and Lloyd Polite Sr. He has two brothers and sisters, Brandy Polite and Chuckie D. Reynolds. Polite grew up in the Calliope Projects in New Orleans’ Central City. Following his father’s death, the family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, and then New York City. Reynolds and Polite began their musical careers in 1996 as members of the preteen boy band N-Toon. The quartet won Nickelodeon’s cancelled “Double Dare 2000” competition. Despite releasing two songs in 1999 and 2000, the group disbanded the following year due to a lack of marketing.

Irv Gotti, a renowned American D.J. and record producer, recognised Polite’s potential in 2003. As a solo artist, he signed to Gotti’s The Inc. “Southside,” the debut solo album by Polite, was released on July 20, 2004, and features Ashanti and Scarface. It debuted at number 11 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and at number 3 on the R&B/Hip-Hop album charts. “Street Love” is the title of Polite’s second album, which was released on March 13, 2007 with the same name. It sold 145,000 copies and reached number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop album charts. The album received gold certification and sold more than 500,000 copies domestically. You, which featured Lil Wayne, was an enormous commercial success. “Lessons in Love,” the third album by Polite, was released on August 4, 2008. It debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 album list and number one on the R&B/Hip-Hop album chart. After another collaboration with Lil Wayne, in which he appeared on the latter’s song ‘BedRock,’ Polite’s career received a tremendous boost. On March 13, 2010, he parted ways with The Inc. and joined Interscope Records. “King of Hearts,” the fourth studio album by Polite, was released on July 5, 2011. The first single from the album, “Lay It Down,” debuted in the top ten of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

On May 6, 2016, Polite returned to the music world with his first single in five years, ‘Tru.’ In an interview with Sway Calloway in August of the same year, Polite revealed that he had been battling with the abortion-related death of his unborn kid, which he reflected in the lyrics of ‘Tru.’ Later, on June 23, 2016, Polite joined EMPIRE, and on August 31, 2018, he released his fifth studio album, “Tru.” He was included in the lineup of musicians from the early 2000s for ‘The Millennium Tour,’ one of the most popular concerts of 2021. As Gregory Williams in the 2019 original biopic “The Bobby Debarge Story” on TV One, he also displayed his acting ability.
