Early Life

On January 19, 1992, Malcolm James McCormick—better known by his stage name, Mac Miller—was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His mother was a photographer, and his father worked as an architect. Pittsburgh is where he grew up. He had a Bar Mitzvah as a Jew. Afterwards, Miller attended Taylor Allderdice High School and the Winchester Thurston School.

Career

In high school, Miller expressed interest in athletics and music. He was usually involved in social events and sports. He taught himself how to play a variety of instruments, including the drums, guitar, and piano. At 14, he decided to become a hip-hop musician and began rapping, even though as a youngster he wanted to be a vocalist.
