Mike Wolfe Biography: Mike Wolfe was born on November 6, 1964, in Joliet, Illinois. Rita, the mother of Mike, reared him and his two siblings, Beth and Robbie, by herself. Soon after his family relocated to Bettendorf, Iowa, he started collecting old bicycles from a neighbor’s refuse as a young child. He subsequently began searching abandoned houses and alleyways for merchandise to sell. Wolfe attended Bettendorf High School and Sudlow Intermediate School before graduating.

Wolfe’s initial interest in antique bicycles led him to pursue a career in competitive bicycle racing, which is when he founded The Village Bike Shop. In 2000, he established “Antique Archaeology” as a business in Le Claire, Iowa. In 2011, he expanded his operations to include a second location in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2012, Wolfe commenced the distribution of his lighting line, Rustorations, from the Nashville location.

Wolfe’s aptitude for discovering hidden treasures piqued the interest of the History Channel, and as a result, “American Pickers” debuted on January 18, 2010, drawing more than three million viewers. It received the highest premiere rating for the network since “Ice Road Truckers” debuted in 2007. In addition to his work on “American Pickers,” he owns Two Lanes Guesthouse, a rental property in Columbia, Tennessee, where guests can “view picks from the show that Mike has extracted from barns and sheds across America and displayed as décor.” Additionally, he has launched Two Lanes, a line of American-made apparel and accessories.
