Indian politician Narottam Mishra is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India, on June 15, 1960.
Mishra completed his primary and secondary education in Gwalior and earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Jiwaji University in Gwalior. Later, he earned a Master of Commerce from the same university.
Mishra was politically active during his college years and affiliated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student division of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Mishra began his political career after completing his education by joining the BJP and becoming a member. He held numerous positions within the party, including General Secretary of the BJP in Madhya Pradesh. In 2008, he was elected from the Datia constituency to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, and he has been re-elected from the same constituency in subsequent elections.
Mishra has held several prominent positions in the government of Madhya Pradesh, including Minister for Water Resources, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, and Minister for Public Relations. He was nominated Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh in 2020.
Narottam Mishra began his political career in 1977 and 1978 with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Bharatiya Jana Yuva Morcha (BJYM).
From the Dabra constituency, Narottam Mishra was elected to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1990. In 1993, he lost the election. Narottam was re-elected from the Dabra assembly district in 1998. In 2013-2018, Narottam was elected to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly and represented the Datia constituency. In 2008, he won his third election to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Datia constituency.
He served as a minister in the Madhya Pradesh government under Babulal Gaur, the 16th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and an Indian politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. Mishra was elected Minister of Parliamentary Affairs on 1 June 2005, Minister of Law on 12 December 2008, and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs on 27 August 2007. He was appointed Minister of Education on November 29, 2005, and remained in that position until August 27, 2007. Narottam Mishra served as Minister of Urban Development from 27 August 2007 until 12 December 2008. He again served as Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs from 28 October 2009 until 14 December 2013.
Narottam, who became minister of housing on May 26, 2010, held that position till December 14, 2013. From 27 January 2011 until 14 December 2013, Narottam Mishra was the Minister of Health and Family Welfare. Mishra served as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs for a second time from 21 December 2013 to 17 December 2018.
