Dobrev immigrated to Canada at the age of two and settled in Toronto. She was proficient in the arts, including dance, gymnastics, theatre, music, and visual arts, from an early age. She was an avid traveller who had visited Europe both for pleasure and to compete in international aesthetic gymnastics competitions, in which she represented Canada.
