Prashant Nanda Biography: Born on 2 May 1947, Prashanta Nanda is an Indian director, actor, and politician from the state of Odisha. Currently, he represents Odisha in the Rajya Sabha, the upper chamber of the Indian Parliament. He has worked extensively in the Odia, Bengali, and Hindi film industries. He was also a former minister for the state of Odisha.

He received his education at Ravenshaw Collegiate School. His B.Sc. is from Ravenshaw College, his M.A. and PhD are from Utkal University, his LL.B. is from Madhusudan Law College, and he holds a D.Litt. from MIT University, Pune.
Early on, he demonstrated an interest in acting by participating in a variety of school plays. He portrayed the character Bulu in the children’s programme Sishu Sansar for Cuttack’s All India Radio.

Famous for his Apu Trilogy, Satyajit Ray revealed everything to their family friend and physician Nosho Babu, who devised a cunning plan to convince Ray’s mother to approve the marriage.

Nanda was the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and vice president of the state of Odisha before resigning in August 2007. He subsequently joined the Nationalist Congress Party and the Biju Janata Dal.
