Raai Laxmi was born as Lakshmi Rai in Bangalore, Karnataka on 5 May 1989 to a Tulu-speaking father, Ram Rai, and a Gujarati-speaking mother, Manjula Rai. She has two older sisters, Reshma and Ashwini. She began her career as a model for Sylcon Footwears, Josco Jewellers, Saravana Stores, Emmanuel Silks, Bru Coffee, and Fair & Lovely, among others.

Movie Career

In 2005, Laxmi made her debut in the Tamil film industry with the film Karka Kasadara. She then appeared in Tamil films such as Kundakka Mandakka, Dharmapuri, and Nenjai Thodu, which were all average box office performers.
