Ray Rice Career

Ray Rice was prepared to enter the 2008 NFL Draft. The Baltimore Ravens selected him in the second round and he inked a $2.85 million contract with a $1.1 million signing bonus. Rice began well for the Ravens, accumulating 546 rushing yards and 274 receiving yards in total.

Rice became the primary running back for the Ravens in 2009. In the 2009 season opener, he gained 108 yards on the ground. During one contest against the Steelers, he gained 141 yards on the ground. He completed the season with 1,339 yards. After being named to the Pro Bowl in 2010, Ray had another outstanding season, accumulating 1,220 rushing yards and 560 receiving yards. After another outstanding season in 2011, Ray renewed his contract for $35 million in 2012.

In 2013, he was a member of the Super Bowl-winning Ravens roster. Sadly, that would prove to be the pinnacle of his entire career. After legal issues hindered his NFL advancement, Ray’s 2013 and 2014 seasons were primarily disappointing. By 2018, Rice had officially proclaimed his retirement from the NFL.

Ray Rice Net Worth

Ray Rice Biography: Former professional American football player Ray Rice has a net worth of $13 million. Ray Rice was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2008, after playing collegiate football at Rutgers. During his six-year playing tenure, Ray became the Ravens’ second-leading rusher of all time.

He was also a member of the 2013 Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens roster. Rice’s career suffered a grievous setback in 2014 when he was indicted for assaulting his fiancee. Following his indictment, the Ravens released him and the NFL suspended him indefinitely from participating. In the end, he successfully appealed the ruling, which many believed would enable him to play again. However, due to his controversial reputation, no NFL teams were willing to sign him, and his career came to an end.

NFL Profits

Throughout his six seasons in the NFL, Ray Rice earned a total of $38 million. His personal controversies likely cost him several seasons of playing time and tens of millions of dollars in salary.

Rice finished the 2011 season with a career-high 2,068 yards from scrimmage and 15 touchdowns. The Ravens immediately rewarded his abilities with a 5-year, $40 million contract. However, it did not end there. The first year of Ray’s contract included $17 million, of which $15 million was a signing bonus. After signing this contract in 2012, Rice was due an annual salary of $8 million.

Ray earned a total of $25 million in salary and incentives from the Ravens from July 2012 to March 2013. In addition, Ray received a $7 million option bonus at the conclusion of the 2013-2014 season.

Legal Matters

In 2014, video footage of Ray Rice dragging his then-fiancee Janay Palmer out of an elevator while she was incapacitated surfaced. It was later disclosed that she was rendered unconscious by a blow to the head delivered by Rice. After the incident, both Rice and Palmer were detained in Atlantic City for assault. The Ravens issued an immediate statement condemning Rice’s actions.

Rice was indicted for third-degree aggravated assault later in 2014. After Rice consented to undergo counseling, charges were dropped despite the fact that he faced imprisonment and fines. Palmer and Rice eventually wed.

Rice’s football career was significantly affected by the criminal allegations. He was released from the Ravens and indefinitely suspended from the NFL. Despite receiving a $3.5 million compensation after being released by the Ravens, Ray’s financial situation after this incident was dire.

Ray lost $10 million in salary over the final three years of the 2011 contract he inked by being fired. Ray even offered to donate his entire salary to charity if a team decided to employ him. No team accepted his invitation.

And we have not yet discussed endorsement money. Nike announced that it had terminated Ray’s endorsement contract, making him the fourth athlete in Nike’s history to be dismissed for public relations and morality clause violations. Michael Vick was ultimately re-signed, along with Lance Armstrong and Justin Gatlin. Later, EA announced that Madden NFL 15 will receive a roster update that will remove Ray from the game.

Ray Rice Assets

When Rice was drafted by the Ravens, he purchased a “starter home” in Pikesville for $350,000. The relatively modest residence includes a jacuzzi and a security system. After signing a new $40-million contract with the Ravens in 2012, it was reported that Ray Rice had purchased a property for his mother.

Rice subsequently purchased a 4,736-square-foot residence in Reisterstown. The property features a swimming pool and an acre of land. In 2012, Ray paid $850,000 for the residence, but just three years later, after his legal issues, he placed it back on the market for $899,000. In 2013, Ray was prepared to sell his much smaller Pikesville home, and he listed it for $319,000. It was reported that after terminating ties with Baltimore, Rice had returned to New York.
