Regina King, the daughter of Gloria Jean and Thomas Henry King Jr., was born in Los Angeles County, California, on January 15, 1971. In 1988, she received her diploma from Westchester High School. After two years, she left the University of Southern California to pursue her acting career, where she was studying communications.

In 1985, she debuted as an actress in the TV show “227.” In 1995, she acted in the comedy film “Friday.” She starred as Mia in Martin Lawrence’s dark comedy-romance “A Thin Line Between Love and Hate” the next year. She also made an appearance in the critically acclaimed romantic comedy “Jerry Maguire.” For her performance in the movie “Enemy of the State,” she was nominated for her first N.A.A.C.P.
