Early Life

Professional wrestler Miroslav Barnyashev, better known by his ring name Rusev, is an American Bulgarian who is presently contracted to the A.E.W. Rusev was born on December 25, 1984, in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. His astrological sign is Capricorn, and he is Caucasian in ancestry.

In his home country of Bulgaria, he started his professional wrestling career in 2002. After that, he relocated to the United States, where he participated in matches under the banners of Ring of Honor (R.O.H.), Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (P.W.G.), and Full Impact Pro (F.I.P). Rusev signed a deal with W.W.E. in 2010 and was put in charge of Florida Championship Wrestling (F.C.W.), the company’s developmental brand. While he was at F.C.W., he took up the ring moniker Rusev; in 2012, F.C.W. changed its name to N.X.T.

Career

In 2012, Rusev began competing on N.X.T.; however, after multiple matches, he broke his neck. He went to Thailand to study martial arts while he was getting better. In 2013, Rusev faced Dolph Ziggler in his first singles bout since joining NXT, and he defeated. He participated in multiple N.X.T. matches. Lana was named manager and social ambassador by Rusev.

In 2014, he performed under the R.A.W brand when he joined the W.W.E main roster. Later, during the Royal Rumble event, he made his debut on the main roster. The professional wrestler had feuds with a number of well-known people, including Braun Strowman, R-Truth, and Xavier Woods. Rusev’s coach Lana received a lot of flak for dedicating the top player’s victories to the Russian president. In 2014, he became the first-ever Bulgarian champion in W.W.E. After 146 days in the ring, he was defeated by John Cena on March 29, 2015.

2020 saw the release of Rusev from W.W.E., and he then signed with the A.E.W. He goes by the moniker Miro. After 12 episodes of Dynamite, he overcame Allin in 2020 to win the A.E.W. T.N.T. Championship. Rusev was replaced by another wrestler in September 2021 after sustaining multiple injuries throughout his tenure.
