She has written and illustrated more than 50 books for children and adults and is known for her extensive body of work. She attended Germantown Friends School and Yale University with an English concentration. Boynton earned his bachelor’s degree in 1974 and then spent a year at the University of California, Berkeley before transferring to Yale School of Drama. However, she chose not to pursue a profession in theatre and is now recognised as an exceptional educator. Today, we are celebrating her special day.

Her father was a progressive educator, scholar, publisher, and co-founder of Boynton/Cook Publishers.
Boyton’s career includes writing and designing greeting cards and novels. It also showcases musical and theatrical performances. In the mid-1970s, Boynton’s satirical cards for Recycled Paper Greetings were at the forefront of the Alternative Cards movement. From 1973 to 2003, nearly 500 million copies of these cards were sold. Boynton published the children’s book “Hippos Go Berserk!” in 1977.Since then, the author has published over seventy books for children, including “Moo, Baa, La La La!”(1982), which was included on the list of All-Time Bestselling Children’s Books. Boynton has also published multiple books for the general market, which have sold over sixty million copies. Boynton began writing songs in 1996 and was nominated for a Grammy in 2003 for ‘Philadelphia Chickens.’ The R.I.A.A. has certified several of her albums as gold. Boynton has also produced several theatrical plays, including “The Quotable Assassin” (2006), an off-off-Broadway play written by her son.
Boynton was married to Jamie McEwan, an Olympic bronze medalist and Yale graduate, from 1978 until his death in 2014. They had four children prior to his death. Boynton shares her accomplishments with her children, her acquaintances, and her family.
