Savannah Guthrie Biography: Savannah Guthrie was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1971 to an American family. She is best known as one of the hosts of the NBC show “Today” (since 1952). She moved back to the United States with her family when she was two years old. They settled in Tucson, Arizona. Magna Cum laude Guthrie graduated from the University of Arizona with a BA in journalism in 1993. He then went to work as a radio journalist.

Early Life

Savannah Guthrie was born in Melbourne, Australia, on December 27, 1971. She is a television journalist for N.B.C. and used to be an attorney. Guthrie moved to Tucson, Arizona, with her family when she was two years old. That’s where she grew up. Journalism has always interested Guthrie, so as soon as she graduated from Tucson’s Amphitheater High School, she entered right away at the University of Arizona. She did very well in college and graduated with honors in 1993.

Career

The young college graduate’s first job was as a reporter at KMIZ, an ABC TV station in Columbia, Missouri, where she worked for two years. From 1995 to 1997, she worked for KVOA in New Brunswick. After five years, she went to Washington, D.C., to work for WRC-TV. She learned a lot about broadcasting while she was there, covering big events like the 9/11 attacks on the Pentagon and the 2001 Anthrax attacks. This is when the rising star of the broadcasting industry chose to get a law degree.

She enrolled at the Georgetown University Law Center and earned her Juris Doctor degree with a magna cum laude. She became a lawyer in the District of Columbia and Arizona after getting her law degree. She went on to win first place on the Arizona Bar Exam. That same year, she won the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Student Advocacy Award for her work with victims of domestic abuse while she was a member of the Order of the Coif.

At a law firm, Guthrie also worked as a litigation associate and focused on white-collar criminal defense. Because she loved both writing and the law, she became a trial correspondent for CourtTV in 2007. There, she covered many cases across the country, including the Michael Jackson trial and the Martha Stewart case. In the fall of that year, she worked as a White House reporter for N.B.C. News. In the same year, she became a news anchor for N.B.C. and filled in as a reporter for the channel’s Nightly News. She was also named N.B.C.’s news chief legal expert while she was a co-anchor on the Today Show, taking over for Ann Curry. In 2011, she was named the top legal editor of the show.

Personal Life

She is also a mother of two and married to Michael Feldman, a public relations and communications expert, in 2014. Their first child was born in 2014, and their second in 2016. Before she married Feldman, Guthrie was married to radio host Mark Orchard on BBC from 2005 to 2009.
