In the film starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, Chaturvedi played the supporting role of MC Sher, a street rapper whose ambitions motivate Ranveer Singh’s character. Jay Weissberg of Variety found Chaturvedi’s performance to be “impressive”, and Rajeev Masand praised his “charming presence”. In addition to a nomination for Best Male Debut, he received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor at the annual Filmfare Awards ceremony.
Chaturvedi then appeared alongside Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, and Sharvari Wagh in Yash Raj Films’ Bunty Aur Babli 2 (2021), a sequel to the crime comedy Bunty Aur Babli (2005). It turned out to be a critical and commercial flop. He had a lead character in Shakun Batra’s Gehraiyaan (2022), a drama about infidelity, co-starring Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday. It became available on Amazon Prime Video. Rediff.com’s Sukanya Verma found his portrayal of a “tough role” to be “compelling.” The actor then appeared in the horror comedy Phone Bhoot alongside Katrina Kaif and Ishaan Khatter. The majority of critics were unimpressed with the film, but Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV felt that Chaturvedi had effectively portrayed his “brash and quick-witted” character.
