Sofyan Amrabat lived his formative years alongside his sibling Nordin. He was born on March 31, 1987, and is commonly known as Noureddine. He is nine years elder than Sofyan. The early years of Mohammed Amrabat’s children were spent in Huizen, Netherlands.
Due to Sofyan and Nordin’s striking resemblance, many fans believe they are twin siblings. It is important to note that the Amrabat brothers, who appear nearly identical, are not identical twins. Sofyan’s older sibling, Nordin, is also a role model and professional football player.
Amrabat began his football career in 2007 when, after playing for HSV De Zuidvogels, he entered Utrecht’s youth system.
His professional debut occurred in 2014 with Utrecht, and in 2017 he moved to Feyenoord. After one season, he transferred to Club Brugge, but in 2019 he was loaned to Hellas Verona in Italy.
Hellas Verona exercised their option to purchase Amrabat from Club Brugge on January 31, 2020, then immediately sold him to Fiorentina. He was subsequently loaned back to Verona until the conclusion of the 2019–2020 campaign.
Amrabat had the option to play for either the Netherlands or Morocco at the international level. Initially, he selected the Netherlands and played in four games for the under-15 squad. Nonetheless, he subsequently decided to represent Morocco.
He participated in three matches during the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup with the under-17 national team of Morocco.
On March 28, 2017, he made his senior team début in a friendly against Tunisia, which Morocco won 1-0. Also included in Morocco’s 23-man roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Amrabat was named to Morocco’s 26-man roster for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which was announced on November 10, 2022.
