He portrayed Prince Sujamal in the 2008 romantic period drama Jodhaa Akbar. Sonu Sood: Controversy

Producer Sheetal Talwar lodged a fraud case against Sonu Sood, which landed him in the middle of a controversy. According to Sheetal, Sood lent him a property in Yari Road, Mumbai, under the pretence that it was not involved in any legal disputes, but it was.

Sonu Sood was embroiled in yet another controversy after leaving the film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Kangna asserted that he quit the film because Sood was unwilling to collaborate with a female director. Sonu Sood responded that Kangana is a dear friend and will always remain one, but that it is ridiculous to continually play the woman card, the victim card, and make this entire issue about masculine chauvinism. It is irrelevant the director’s gender. Competence consists of. Let’s not mix the two up. I’ve worked with Farah Khan, a competent female director, and we had a wonderful working relationship; we remain closest friends. That is all I have to say.
