Harvey was born in Welch, West Virginia, on January 17, 1957, to Eloise Vera and her father, Jesse Harvey, a coal miner. Although Harvey is a Capricorn and of African American heritage, his persistent stuttering made growing up especially challenging for him. Harvey eventually overcome this issue that was going to prevent him from being a comedian. Harvey’s first stand-up comedy performance took place in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 8, 1985.

Career

In the beginning of his comedic career, it was difficult. Harvey lived in his car, took showers at gas stations and pools, and was homeless for three years. This event strengthened his character and helped him the giving individual he is today. In April 1990, Harvey made his stand-up comedy debut as a finalist on “Johnie Walker’s National Comedy Search.” It resulted in a lengthy engagement as “Showtime at the Apollo” host. After appearing in the 1994 film “Me and the Boys,” Harvey went on to anchor “The Steve Harvey Show” from 1996 to 2002. He carried on with his stand-up and film career, making appearances in several films, including “You Got Served” (2005), “The Fighting Temptations” and “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” (2003). In September 2010, Harvey’s appointment to the “Family Feud” role followed his 2009 “New York Times” bestseller Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.

Harvey has had a successful career. His career has included stand-up comedy, game show hosting, acting in motion pictures, writing books, and more, and he is still going strong. Presently, Harvey serves as the host of a brand-new program called “Judge Steve Harvey,” which debuted on January 4, 2022. Harvey tells his blended family about his accomplishments. He has seven children total—three of whom he adopted from Majorie Bridges during his most recent marriage—and has been married three times.
